Campbeltown Festival programme of events announced

Thursday 28th February 2019

Glen Scotia Distillery has announced details for this years’ Campeltown Malts Festival running from the 21st to 23rd of May.

Due to the overwhelming success of 2018, this year is set to be even bigger with a full portfolio of events including an increased tasting programme with Distillery Manager Iain McAlister, Master Blender Michael Henry and Assistant Distillery Manager Hector McMurchy.

The Annual Ardsheil dinner will take place on Tuesday 21st May along with a second dinner on Wednesday 22nd May, which has been added for the first time, at the Ugadale Hotel. Guests will be treated to a welcome cocktail before taking their seats to enjoy an amazing 3 course meal made with the finest local Kintyre produce, paired with a selection of Glen Scotia drams. Guests will also get the opportunity to taste the 2019 Festival Edition before anyone else and receive an exclusive single cask bottle.

A new edition to the festival includes Hidden Gems: a tasting experience in the wonderful dunnage warehouse sampling some modern spirits working back through some true hidden gems of the Glen Scotia archives and warehouses!

Also added for 2019 is the Glen Scotia Coastal Connection where Master Blender, Michael Henry will take you on a step back in time to examine how the location of Campbeltown and its history has affected everything that influenced us and the spirit along the way including trade routes, cask imports and the effect on the spirit.

As with previous years, free distillery tours will be running on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd May. Guests will follow the spirit throughout the distillery and meet some of the small, dedicated team who take the time required to produce our distinct Glen Scotia single malts. From mashtun to warehouse, your tour guide will give you an insight into our whisky and the history of Glen Scotia and Campbeltown. After the tour come join us in the Old Kiln room for a free dram of Glen Scotia Double Cask.

Speaking of the festival, Distiller Manager Iain McAlister said “I look forward to the Campbeltown Festival every year, it is great welcoming guests from all over the world to our distillery and showing them what we do at Glen Scotia”
