We’re Hiring: Whisky Blender

The Loch Lomond Group is an independent distiller and blender of some of the world’s finest and rarest scotch whiskies. With distilleries in Alexandria and Campbeltown brands include Loch Lomond, Glen Scotia, Littlemill, Inchmurrin, Glens Vodka and the newly released Ben Lomond Gin.

Loch Lomond Group have recently been shortlisted for a variety of awards at the Scottish Whisky Awards including Scottish Distillery of the Year nominations for both their Loch Lomond and Glen Scotia distilleries. This follows success at this years’ San Francisco World Spirits Competition, The World Whisky Awards and Internatinoal Spirits Challenge across the malts range. They are also in the midst of a five-year partnership with The Open, sponsoring the event and creating special edition  releases.

Following this period of growth and success, the group are now looking to recruit a Whisky Blender to work alongside current Master Blender, Michael Henry. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual looking to hone their organoleptic and blending skills.

The Whisky Blender will assist the Master Blender in all distillery operations, including distilling, blending and all aspects of maturation and quality, ensuring they take time to understand and appreciate the standards Loch Lomond Group work to. Candidates should have the ability to contribute to new blends and products whilst also acting as brand ambassador at customer tastings and whisky shows. It is also important that candidates have the emotional intelligence to be able to develop and maintain both internal and external relationships.


Candidates should possess the following experience and skills:

A degree in brewing and distilling or a chemistry related degree

Public facing personality that will engage with customers and lead tastings

Organoleptic experience

Computer literate with a sound understanding of Microsoft Excel

3+ years’ experience in a Blender role, preferably with strong whisky experience is desirable but not essential. A “can do” attitude and willingness to learn is more important than previous experience in a similar role.
