Monday 5th June 2017
Glen Scotia celebrated a great 2017 Campbeltown Whisky Festival with visitor numbers up and new events added to attract visitors to the “wee toon” on the Kintyre peninsula.
One of the additional and very successful events held was the Glen Scotia dinner at the Ardshiel Hotel on the Tuesday night which kicked off the Whisky Festival. Guests were treated to a superb dinner, each course was paired with a Glen Scotia expression, including the 2017 Festival Bottling which was introduced to the diners by Charles Maclean, who was heavily involved in its selection along with Iain McAlister, the distillery manager.
The Open Day itself was a very busy affair with tours, tastings and entertainment on the agenda. The old kiln room had been refurbished for this years event allowing a new tasting bar to be introduced along with stalls from amongst others Arran distillery. Music accompanied the visitors as well as stalls from other local producers providing crafts and local lamb and seafood.
The Dunnage Tour, hosted by Iain and with guest Charles Maclean, was as usual over subscribed, however we managed to squeeze a few extra in! With 4 single casks to sample the guests were treated to a variety of Glen Scotia flavours and characters with a 20cl bottle to take away and enjoy at their leisure.
We were delighted to greet many new faces over the Festival and will look to bring new experiences for 2018 and we look forward to seeing some old friends as well a new faces again.
