Ashley joined Glen Scotia’s owner, Loch Lomond Group, in 2019, where she has overseen the Glen Scotia single cask programme, as well as contributing to the wider portfolio. During this time, she has developed an in-depth understanding of the brand, its distinctive style, and its bold Campbeltown character.
With over 10 years of experience in the whisky sector and highly developed sensory expertise, Ashley continues Glen Scotia’s mission to bring the single malts of Scotland’s smallest whisky region to a global audience.
Ashley’s whisky journey began in an unconventional way. While studying abroad at university, she became aware of how frequently Scots are asked about their national drink, sparking a curiosity to learn more. Upon returning home, a tasting at the Scotch Malt Whisky Society with her dad, an avid whisky fan, ignited a newfound appreciation and desire to learn more.
Her career path took shape by chance while working in a samples room, where she discovered a natural sensory aptitude, inspiring her to pursue a role in whisky production, ultimately leading her to her position as Master Blender at Glen Scotia.
Ashley’s favourite dram is the award-winning Glen Scotia 12 Year Old. "it has layers of tropical fruit flavour alongside our distinctive coastal salinity. With 100% 1st Fill Bourbon Barrel maturation, I also get loads of melted brown sugar sweetness and caramelised oak which works so well with our rich, oily whisky."
Drawing on his background as an engineer, Iain has developed and enhanced production at Glen Scotia, whilst making sure to preserve the craftsmanship and traditional skills we value. After all, it’s these that continue to influence and shape Glen Scotia’s distinctive house style.
Iain’s favourite dram is the award-winning Glen Scotia Double Cask – which he especially enjoys on a Friday night, when winding down after a busy week.
“Being a Master Blender offers me the chance to have a singular focus and help shape the future of one of my favourite whiskies. Campbeltown is a region with a rich history and Glen Scotia is a gem with so much potential – everyone on the team has done so well to bring its journey to this point, so to be able to continue that is a huge honour.”
